how dangerous?

Are less professionally executed graphics taken seriously?

  1. There is 50-50 chance of these graphics being noticed. Most of the times, these graphics are bad copies from standard signages. Other creative creatures do their own stuff based on their culture and information.

On other hand, I see them as an interesting way of expressionism by the street artist.
Since custom-made signage is built from scratch, it offers limitless flexibility. Any signage of this type costs less, because intellectual effort of a professional designer is out of scope. So at places, where people cant afford service of a professional, something is better than nothing....but it can be a double edged sword...for more interesting stuff see

  2. yeah of course they have to be taken seriously especially when they are viewed in their environment/situation. Here though the skull is looking comedy the caption above it makes one view it accordingly

  3. I still have doubts about the effectiveness of these local versions. It is not violation of standards?

Non standardized icons can be interpreted as casual motifs... or for an illiterate person the icon could be a fancy illustration usually found on transport vehicles.

There are no takers for any consequence resultant of faulty communication. Nobody cares... for effective communication...or for responsible design.

If you get it, thanks your stars...if you dont you are anyways not there!
